The details
Porkbun and Cloudflare Registrar are both favourites with people who care about price, but they work in quite different ways.
Cloudflare sells domains at cost, passing through the registry and ICANN fees with no markup, which typically makes its renewals among the cheapest available. The important trade-off is that domains registered with Cloudflare must use Cloudflare's DNS. You cannot point them at another provider's nameservers, and not every extension is supported.
Porkbun is a conventional registrar known for low, transparent pricing across many extensions. It includes WHOIS privacy and SSL certificates at no extra cost, supports 2FA with hardware security keys, and lets you use any nameservers you like. That flexibility matters if your host, email provider or another DNS service asks you to change nameservers.
So the question is less about price and more about DNS. If Cloudflare is already your DNS provider, keeping the domain there is tidy and inexpensive. If you want freedom to change, Porkbun avoids that constraint.
Either way, compare the renewal price for your exact extension, since that is what you pay year after year. Check current pricing on both sites.
Transfers are possible in either direction. Moving into Cloudflare means using Cloudflare's DNS; moving out means unlocking the domain, getting the authorisation code and starting the transfer at Porkbun. A 60-day lock applies after new registrations, and a transfer usually adds a year.
